Sally 24th January 2021

It has taken time to accept the reality of the loss of my dear friend. For nearly fifty years Gareth and Shirl have been facts of my life. So much love has grown through those years and so much shared. I look back on the fun of youth, to the joy of family and the support in difficult and sometimes traumatic times. Happy times in gardens, kitchens, beaches and of course pubs. Playing and singing carols in the Brooksteed was a special night to remember more recently!! I loved Gareth and felt loved by him. He truly stood in my corner and I knew and felt that without question. The loss of that is unbearable. I think of conversations and advice given with love. Gareth liked to say I never listened to him but he knew that wasn’t true and I only told him to shove it occasionally. The tale of the fire in Bradford on Avon will no doubt be told by Rob and Gemma.... Gareth’s kindness, generosity and values will live with me and others always. They are shared with Shirl and reflected in Rhi, Gemma and Robbie. His pride in his family shone through. I am so grateful that I had time a few weeks back with Gareth and Shirl in Bradford on Avon and we quietly celebrated all those years. I send all love and support to Shirl, Rhian, Gemma and Robbie always. You are so impressive, even in your pain. I am thinking of all those suffering the loss of our friend Gareth Sally xx
