The kindest gentleman

Words can’t begin to describe how cruel this tragedy was, to impact the most caring and welcoming family I’ve encountered.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Gareth and his family last summer in a very welcome break from the pandemic. Immediately I was astounded at Gareth’s energy and love for life. He was genuinely interested in my life and always listened with the intent to understand, not just to respond. We had amazing career chats, with advice I’ll remember forever, and I always felt like a celebrity sitting next to him in the few trips we made to the Watchmakers. He had an endless supply of fascinating stories to share, and I could never feel bored in his presence. I remember us trying to leave the pub for dinner and how Gareth stopped to chat to so many people - we ended up meeting him at the house to leave him to chat!

Gareth had time for everybody and treated everyone with kindness and care. I’ll always remember how Gareth made me feel - so accepted that I could truly be myself. Gareth was a true gentleman and the way he touched so many lives shows his spirit will always live on.
