I’ve spent hours thinking about what Gareth meant to me (and us) and anything I write will be inadequate. I first met Gareth (and Shirley, Rhian and Gemma) about 27 or 28 years ago. I worked in the Alex part time and it was a real locals pub, with regulars spending days and even weekends all together. (Remember Ireland for the wedding and Robbie being absolutely hilarious for such a little boy (his father’s son)?). Gareth was so proud and excited when Robbie was born and all together, you all made an amazing family. Gareth was funny, kind, silly, sensible, so clever and knowledgeable about so many things. We would talk about music, football, politics (well, not really, but he would try to educate me), he had such a cheeky little giggle, he told dad jokes (which I’m sure you’re all too familiar with) and he offered excellent opinions and advice. He made me feel that what I had to say was important and he made me feel important. He made me feel like an equal. He talked to absolutely everyone about absolutely anything. He had a heart of gold and was friends with everyone, from all walks of life. He was all things to all men and he will be so badly missed. Despite my not seeing him for a while, my world seems a much emptier place now and I will always, always remember him with love. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. RIP lovely Gareth and Connie xxxxx
